What to expect at your first reflexology session
Going somewhere new for the first time can feel like a lot. So here's exactly what happens when you come for your first session.
Before you arrive
You book a time online and get a confirmation email with the address. Payment is in cash, so please bring the amount with you. If you'd like to know more beforehand, send me a message. I'm happy to explain anything.
Wear comfortable clothes, preferably trousers you can roll up a little above the ankle.
The first conversation
Your first session takes 1 hour 15 minutes, at the same price as a regular session. We start with a short conversation of about 15 minutes. I ask how you're doing, about your general health and what you'd like from the session.
I also ask what makes you comfortable. Do you prefer soft light? Silence or some music? Do you like to chat, or would you rather not talk at all? There are no wrong answers.
The session itself
You take off your shoes and socks and sit back in a comfy recliner chair. You stay fully dressed. There's no massage table to climb onto.
I tell you before I start. Then I work on both feet at the same time for about an hour, applying pressure to specific points. This is how the Duopody method works. If you'd like lighter or firmer pressure, just say so. You can take a break or stop at any time.
Some people chat, others close their eyes or fall asleep. All of that is fine.
Afterwards
Take a moment before you get up. Have a glass of water and take your time.
If you'd like to come back, you can book your next session online.
Is reflexology a medical treatment?
No. Reflexology is a complementary therapy. It doesn't diagnose, treat or cure medical conditions and doesn't replace medical care. Because of my background in nursing, I'll tell you if I think you should check something with your GP first.
